This image shows one of over 100 active volcanoes in Indonesia. This volcano is different then most and spills out blue lava. Indonesia is riddled with volcanoes all across the southern and north eastern coastline. This hugely affects all people living around these volcanoes, eruptions can cause death and often destroy peoples homes and other buildings around town.

This image is of rain forest. Rain forests are very common in Indonesia. Yet they are being destroyed at astronomical rates by loggers. This destroys animals habits and the landscape. Eventually if this rapid destruction doesn't stop then almost all of the Indonesian rain forest will be gone. All of this logging emits large amounts of carbon, more than all of the vehicles in the U.S. in one year combined. This makes Indonesia the third largest emitter of greenhouse gases behind the U.S. and China. 5% of all of the worlds greenhouse gases now come from Indonesia. Of this 5%, 85% of it comes from destruction of rain forests. It's hard to believe rain forests are a huge part of Indonesian geography and could eventually not be a part of it at all.

Indonesia has one of the largest amount of coastline compared to other nations around the world. Coming in at second to Canada according to Google, Canada with 202,080 km and Indonesia with 54,716 km. Indonesia has some of the most beautiful coastline as you can see from this image. Often times with rain forests and volcanoes bordering the ocean, two of the other most common geographical features in Indonesia. Coastline is very important to the economy in Indonesia. It creates all kinds of opportunities for harbors which help trade flourish. When trade is good the economy usually follows in step. As you can see Indonesia has vast amounts of coastline and it really helps them out.

This photo shows one of the vast Indonesian mountain ranges. Most of the bigger Indonesian islands are very mountainous. Mountains restrict travel through areas and aren't very helpful to the people living around them. When travel is restricted so is trade, when trade is bad often times so is the economy. Often times these mountains are just dormant or even active volcanoes. This makes living around mountains even harder. If they are active and they erupt it can cause death and destruction. On the other hand mountains create beautiful scenery and often increase the amount of tourists coming to Indonesia each year. As you can see mountains help and hurt Indonesia in many ways.
