Culture in Indonesia has a wide variety of music, holidays and customs. This is because of several different things, like the wide range of religions and ancient trading routes which allowed people with different cultures to bring them to Indonesia. A big part of Indonesian culture is performing arts, like dancing, singing/music or martial arts. A few examples of these are the Mingangkabau Tari Piring, the plate dance, Angklung, which is a musical orchestra and silat, which is a popular form of martial arts. Art is also a big part, with sculpting, painting and even architecture. Although those are quite big parts of the culture, there are also lesser parts of the culture; such as poetry and recreational sports like rattan ball. Rattan ball can be compared very closely to our volley ball, although they have to use their feet instead of their hands to keep the ball in the air. Although the culture in Indonesia seems quite different than our own, which is true in some parts, there are some parts that are quite similar to our own culture. Such as how music and performing arts are a big part of their culture.
