Every year, around $178,900,000,000 worth of items are exported from Indonesia. They are the the twenty sixth largest export country in the world.
Coal briquettes are the most numerous natural resource exported from Indonesia. That is followed by petroleum oil, palm oil, then crude petroleum . There are also many other natural resources exported from there but the amounts are not as significant.
Indonesia also exports a large amount of man-made goods such as electronics, vehicles, soap and furniture. They are made in factories there, then bought and sold by other countries around the world. Most of these goods and resources are transported through cargo planes or cargo ships but as you can see from the picture, some are transported other ways like by barge. Indonesia exports mostly to China, Japan, Singapore, and the US but other countries get imports from Indonesia as well.
Indonesia imports 16% of their goods from China which is their largest import country. Next, 14% comes from Singapore and 11% from Japan.
A long time ago, many Indian and Chinese people immigrated to Indonesia and settled. Fisherman ventured out to search for fish and in the process discovery new Islands. In the nineteenth century, Indonesians went to Australia for jobs but were forced to move back after World War II because Australia was with the Allies and Indonesia followed the Axis powers. The Immigration and Nationality Act that was passed by the US government in 1965 allowed Asians to legally emigrate to the US. This act more than tripled the amount of Indonesian Americans from 1980 to 1990. According to the US census of 2000, the majority of Indonesian Americans live in Southern California.
These movements of resources, goods and people have a large impact on Indonesia. The movement of resources and goods impact Indonesia because it helps them make money. This trade for Indonesians helps provide jobs and wealth. The movement of people immigrating to Indonesia helps their economy thrive and the emigration help the population not become too large to be uncomfortable. Fossil fuels have become more common which is taking place of coal. Also, manufactures have increased over the years. That is because a lot of technology is made in Indonesia. Because technology is more common these days the export rate has increased.
